Even though I have followed the folks over at I Heart Faces for a long time now-- this is my very first time to enter anything! The challenge this week was best face for January and as soon as I saw it, I knew exactly the picture I would enter. This is my son Connor playing in the snow which we have had a ton of here in St. Louis this January. I just love his expression, the focus and of course--the snow!

Snow Days
We have certainly had our fair share of winter this year! This is Joshua's 4th snow day from school and it looks like there may be another on Monday. Well, what can you do but enjoy it & make the most of it. There has been plenty of inside time building with Legos, watching movies, making forts out of the couch cushions and all the blankets in the house and of course drinking hot chocolate. We've also had a great time playing in the snow. The first snow fell on Christmas Eve. It was beautiful to wake up to a white Christmas! Here's a few pics of the boys playing with Daddy over the Christmas holiday.
Yesterday we got another 8.5 inches of snow. I think they said on the news that this was the biggest snowfall in one day since 1982.
My sweet husband shoveled our driveway before he went in to work.
The boys and I stayed inside most of the day just hanging out and making some crafts.
For some reason Joshua wanted to wear my knitted blue hat. Don't you just love the flower!
Later in the afternoon we headed outside. The sun was shining and the snow was perfectly powdery. Not so great for building snowmen but still fun to play in.
A nice warm bath was a perfect ending to such a chilly day!
Thank you Lord for the beautiful snow & thank you that we have a warm house to retreat to.

My baby is 6!
I know I say this on each of my kiddos birthdays but WOW time flies. Six years ago today I became a Mommy. Joshua was born on January 13, 2005 at 9:38am. My world changed at that moment! Parenthood has been an amazing ride--- the joy, the excitement, the sleepless nights, the temper tantrums (some from the kids, most from me) the ups, the downs and the downright craziness. However the day Joshua was born I didn't know any of what was to come---only the pure BLISS of holding my first born.
Now that sweet baby boy is already 6 & here's a look back at those six fantastic birthdays.
Joshua has been a pure delight! I think back sometimes to those first days at home after he was born. The poor kid was a guinea pig for all of our parenting trials. I remember leaving the hospital and thinking they really should have sent someone with us who was more qualified to raise this child. Somehow he survived and we did too. Thanks Josh for being so patient with us as we fumbled through those first days as parents. May the Lord bless you always as He has blessed us by being your family.
Happy 6th Birthday Joshua!
